Undoubtedly, this book will not be forgotten” • Miguel León-Portilla is an internationally recognized authority in the area of Nahuatl culture and thought. • La filosofía náhuatl is an international reference work about the philosophical thought of the early inhabitants of Mexico. • The book includes an appendix with original texts, a brief philosophical vocabulary in Nahuatl, analytical indexes, and illustrations. About the author Miguel León-Portilla (Mexico City, 1926) is the most distinguished specialist and proponent of Nahuatl thought in Mexico and Ibero-America. He received the Doctorate of Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he has been a professor since 1957. He is also Emeritus Scholar of the Institute of Historical Research. He has been named Doctor Honoris Causa in numerous universities, and in 1981 he received the National Prize for Social Sciences, History, and Philosophy, as well as the 2014 Bernardino de Sahagún Medal, among other honours. Particularly outstanding from his vast array of publications are Trece poetas del mundo azteca Thirteen Poets of the Aztec World, El reverso de la Conquista The Conquest Reverse, and Introducción a la cosmografía y las cuatro navegaciones de Américo Vespucio Introduction to the Cosmography and the Four Navigations by Amerigo Vespucci. “Thanks to Miguel León-Portilla, the roots and cultural treasures of Mexico are today uncovered for the world to see”.
