Folio 004 Mandala menta l. Un proyect o de Math ieu Copeland A Mental Mandala. A Project by Mathieu Copeland A Mental Mandala seeks to deepen the relationship between works of art and the spectator’s experience. The exhibition includes work by Luigi Amara, Philippe Decrauzat, Myriam Gourfink, F.M. Einheit, Ulrich Krieger, Alan Licht, Gustav Metzger, Robert Poss and Alan Vega. Artists of very different origins, who work in media and disparate formats on the exhibition. Mathieu Copeland’s project aims to produce a non-linear reading through different artistic strategies, such as film, music, painting, dance and literature, where the experience of the work and the exhibition occur in the mind of the spectator, who is capable of constructing it, living it, and recreating it. Mathieu Copeland (Lagny sur Marne, France, 1977). Lives in London. He developed a practice that seeks to subvert the traditional role of exhibitions and to renew the way they are perceived. He was co-curator of the exhibition Voids, a Retrospective at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Kunsthalle in Bern, and has organized numerous exhibitions, including Soundtrack for an Exhibition, A Choreographed Exhibition, the retrospectives of Alan Vega, Gustav Metzger and Phill Niblock, and initiated the series of “spoken exhibitions,” and “exhibitions to be read.” In 2013, he was the guest curator at the Jeu de Paume, Paris. He teaches at the Haute École d’Art et de Design in Geneva and lectures at numerous universities and art schools.
