Lance Wyman. México Throughout a career that spans over fifty years, Lance Wyman has become one of the leading figures of contemporary graphic design and a cornerstone for understanding the visual culture of the present day Mexico. This first retrospective publication of his work compiles some of his most important contributions, including graphic systems for the Mexico ‘68 Olympics, the Mexico City Metro, Central de Abasto and the Camino Real Hotel. Lance Wyman (Newark, United States, 1937) is an important graphic designer, who has participated on relevant projects as the iconic creation of the Mexico City subway, Central de Abasto, the logo of Mexico Olympics 68, Papalote Children Museum, pastas La Morena, the corporate image of Camino Real Hotel, for naming a few. It is important to say that Wyman worked on factories during his early life and took on the military service, which allowed him to awaken an inherent curiosity in the field of accurate and informative signs, as well as further his appreciation for functionality and also, the awareness of using clear communication strategies. This allowed him to work under a designer’s philosophy, which, at the same time, nourished his interest in creating practical communication systems universally understandable.
