About the author Having received a doctorate in philosophy from the Ibero-American University, Mauricio Beuchot (1950) is the coordinator of the Department of Hermeneutics in the Institute for Philological Research at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Internationally recognized as a specialist in the philosophy of Medieval Europe and New Spain, Beuchot is also a member of the Mexican Academy of Languages and the Mexican Academy of History.
