It is a study that allows a more complete approach to the time in which Mixteco and Zapoteco cultures came in contact” Beatriz de la Fuente • Lord 9 Flower in Zaachila’s tomb shows us a panorama of the concept around death among the old inhabitants of Oaxaca. • Zaachila was the last important city of the Zapoteco people, and by the time of the arrival of the Spaniards, the Mixtecos dominated it. • Roberto Gallegos Ruiz is one of the most important and renowned archaeologists in Mexico. With this book and with the backing of documents, the archaeologist states an interesting hypothesis: the great Lord buried might be a Mixteco prince, who could be the same 9 serpent who appears in the Nuttall Codex and who went on to conquer Cuilapa and married a Zapoteco princess. Without ignoring the scientific discipline, Roberto Gallegos’s research shows how it is possible to state on the ground of historical and cultural events, which transcend the sparse information on the archaeological data.
