About the author Having received a doctorate in philosophy from the Ibero-American University, Mauricio Beuchot (Torreón, Coahuila, 1950) is the coordinator of the Department of Hermeneutics in the Institute for Philological Research at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Internationally recognized as a specialist in the philosophy of Medieval Europe and New Spain, Beuchot is also a member of the Mexican Academy of Language and the Mexican Academy of History.
