Folio 014 Arecife Reef Colectivo am Reef is a project by Colectivo am, a group of artists who proposed to use choreography in order to overturn the logic of the archive and submit it to the logic of the stage. This publication is extemporaneous in nature, having been generated from the experimentation that took place in the museum in August and September of 2013. The collective’s tasked itself with creating a mise-en-scène from the limits of the archive. Each day, a different collaborator was invited to draw on his or her field of expertise in order to document some element of the bodies in action. As those documents accumulated, they gave rise to an “anti-archive,” which, since it existed only in relation to the living, could never fulfil the archive’s mandate to be sealed off or consolidated as an autonomous body. The separation between the imprint of the experience and the impression on the document was closed off, so as to rescue the autonomy of the choreographic event. Colectivo am Emerged at the end of 2010 after a funeral ceremony carried out during the closing of the choreographic project Sala Tomada at the Teatro de la Danza in Mexico City. The collective’s current members are all artists linked to choreography and the performing arts, passionate about history, defenders of reflection, and critical of their own labor. Although their membership includes different nationalities, they all pursue their work in Mexico City. Each member also has his or her own creative project: choreographic, interpretive, theoretical. In Colectivo am they have found a platform for exchange and negotiation, sharing processes, questioning the results, proposing academic activities, and eventually working collectively on performance-related projects. http://colectivoam.wordpress.com Artists: Colectivo am Authors: Alejandra Labastida, Colectivo am Editors: muac-unam Editorial Coordinator: Ekaterina Alvarez Romero Language: Spanish and English First edition, 2014 Editors: muac-unam Extension: 56 pages Format: 8.66 in x 6.3 in MSRP: $7.95 USD ISBN: 978-607-02-5232-7 Target: University community, academics and public interested in contemporary art 73 MUAC UNAM Foreign Rights 2015
