Graduated as an industrial designer from the Pratt Institute at Brooklyn. He began his professional career in Detroit, working first for General Motors and later in William Schmidt’s office, with whom he developed the graphics for the United States Pavilion at the 1962 Zagreb Trade Fair. In 1963, he began working with modernist icon George Nelson, where he was responsible for projects like the Chrysler Pavilion at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. In 1966, he and British designer Peter Murdoch won the international contest to develop a logotype and graphic system for the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games. The result was a program that Philip Meggs, author of the book A History of Graphic Design, would call “one of the most successful in the evolution of visual identification.” Other publications: Linda King, Lance Wyman. Known for his graphic work for the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games, the Mexico City Metro, Mexico City’s Central de Abasto, among others, Wyman has managed to establish a permanent communication medium through symbols that make evident the way in which an image can communicate a specific message effectively.
